A new driveway is poured once and looked at every day after that. The difference between one that stays flat and one that cracks by its third summer is not the concrete on top, it is the ground preparation, the steel and the joint layout underneath, which is exactly where this site’s published rates put the money.
What the job includes
Every new driveway through this site is one scope, one crew, one written price: excavation and levels, compacted base to suit the ground, steel mesh on chairs, a 25 MPa pour at 100mm minimum, the finish of your choice, control joints cut on planned lines within a day, and crossfall set so stormwater leaves the slab instead of pooling against the garage. Nothing on that list is an optional extra, because none of it is optional if the driveway is to last.
Finishes and what they cost
Plain grey with a broom finish is the working standard and starts at $100 per m2. Full depth oxide colour runs $110 to $130 and keeps its colour because the pigment goes through the slab, not on it. An exposed aggregate finish runs $135 to $150 where a decorative surface is wanted or the estate requires one. On covenant land in Aura and Harmony, plain grey is generally not permitted, so budget from the coloured row up and check the design guidelines for your release.
Sand, clay and the coast’s weather
Beach side suburbs sit on sand that drains quickly but must be properly compacted before it carries a slab. The hinterland runs to clay and loam that swell and shrink between seasons, which asks more of the base and the joint layout. Both get handled at the site measure, not discovered at the pour, and summer pours are timed for the morning before the heat and the afternoon storms.
The crossover is part of the job
The strip between your boundary and the road is council territory, built to the council’s standard drawing. A standard crossover needs no permit with Sunshine Coast Council or Noosa Shire; a non standard one needs written approval before work starts. Which one yours is is stated in writing on your quote, and the crossovers page covers both councils in detail.
Getting a price
The pricing page publishes every rate with worked examples by driveway size, and the calculator gives you a range in seconds. Rates move with site conditions and variations; the number that holds is the written quote after a site measure.
